Why Your Booking Code Won't Load (And How to Fix It)

The two most common reasons a booking code fails are an expired code (the matches have started or the validity window closed) and a wrong bookmaker (you are pasting a Bet9ja code into SportyBet, or vice versa). Fix the first by getting a fresh code; fix the second by using SlipMix to convert the code to the right platform.

Convert slip code

The main causes, in order of frequency

1. Expired code

Every booking code has a validity window, typically 24–72 hours from creation. The window shortens as matches on the slip approach kickoff — and once any game has started, most bookmakers reject the code entirely.

How to tell: the bookmaker's error will say something like "code not found", "expired", or "event has started". If the selections included matches that were scheduled for earlier today or yesterday, expiry is almost certainly the cause.

Fix: ask whoever shared the code to generate a fresh one. There is no way to extend or revive an expired code.

2. Mistyped or incomplete code

A single wrong character breaks the lookup. Booking codes are case-sensitive on some platforms, and the visual similarity between O and 0, or I and 1, causes silent errors that are easy to miss.

How to tell: the error appears immediately on pasting, before any network request, or the bookmaker says "invalid code".

Fix:

  • Re-copy the code directly from the source — do not re-type it.
  • Remove any leading or trailing spaces (these often paste invisibly).
  • On Bet9ja, make sure the B- prefix is included.
  • Check for O vs 0 and I vs 1 if you did type it manually.

3. Code from a different bookmaker

This is the cross-bookie problem. A Bet9ja code contains Bet9ja's internal event IDs — SportyBet has no idea what those numbers refer to. Pasting it into SportyBet will always fail, no matter how recently the code was created.

How to tell: the code loads with no result, or the error says "code not found" even though you are certain it is valid. Compare the code format to what the platform expects:

| Bookmaker | Typical code format | |-----------|-------------------| | Bet9ja | B- prefix + 6 alphanumeric chars, e.g. B-9X7K2P | | SportyBet | 6–8 uppercase letters, e.g. UZ46KM | | 1xBet | 12–16 digits, e.g. 523817462901 |

If your code does not match the format of the site you are on, it came from somewhere else.

Fix: use SlipMix. Paste your code above, select the correct source and destination bookmakers, and SlipMix will re-book the same selections on the target platform. You get a native code that loads cleanly.

4. A match on the slip has already started or been suspended

Even if the code itself is still within its validity window, bookmakers will usually reject any slip that contains a match that has already kicked off. Some platforms reject the whole code; others simply drop the started leg.

How to tell: error messages like "match has started", "event suspended", or "selection unavailable". If the bookmaker drops the leg silently, you may notice fewer selections than expected when the slip loads.

Fix: there is no way to reload the original selections for a started match. Get a fresh code that covers only upcoming fixtures, or manually add the remaining selections.

5. A specific market is no longer available

Occasionally a bookmaker withdraws a market mid-event (e.g. during a goal-mouth scramble or injury delay). A code that includes that market will fail or load with the affected leg missing.

How to tell: the error is specific to one selection, not the whole code. This is less common than the causes above.

Fix: if only one leg is affected, ask for a fresh code without that selection, or manually rebuild the slip on the bookmaker's site.

Quick diagnosis checklist

  1. Is the code from this bookmaker? — check the format against the table above. If it does not match, convert it with SlipMix first.
  2. Did any matches already start? — if yes, the code is likely expired or rejected due to in-play events.
  3. Is there a typo? — re-copy from the source and check for hidden spaces.
  4. Is the code more than 48 hours old? — it has almost certainly expired.

Work through these four questions and you will identify the cause in most cases.

Frequently asked questions

Why does the code say "not found" when I am sure it is correct? "Not found" almost always means either the code is from a different bookmaker, it has expired, or a character is wrong. Check the format first — if it does not look like a code from this platform, use SlipMix to convert it.

Can I fix an expired code? No. Once a code expires, it cannot be revived. A new code must be generated from the original selections (or recreated manually).

What if only some selections load, not all of them? Some of the legs may have been for matches that started or markets that were withdrawn. The bookmaker loaded what it could and dropped the rest. Check which selections are missing and whether those matches have already kicked off.

Is a Bet9ja code supposed to have "B-" at the start? Yes — Bet9ja booking codes follow the format B-XXXXXX. If you see the code without the prefix, add B- before entering it.

What does SlipMix do if a leg can't be matched on the target bookie? SlipMix skips that selection, tells you which one was skipped and why, and generates a code for the remaining legs. You can then decide whether to proceed with a partial slip.
