Handicap betting adjusts the starting goal count of one team to level the playing field. Both European Handicap and Asian Handicap do this — the difference is what happens when the handicap-adjusted result is exactly level, and whether a draw outcome exists at all.
European Handicap
European Handicap (EH) applies a whole-number or half-number goal adjustment and produces three possible outcomes: the adjusted result favours team 1, team 2, or is exactly level (a handicap draw).
Example: Chelsea European Handicap -1. Chelsea start with a virtual -1 goal adjustment. The adjusted score at full-time is the actual score minus 1 applied to Chelsea's total.

With EH, three distinct selections exist on the betslip: Chelsea (-1), Draw on Handicap, Opponent (+1). You pick one of the three.
Asian Handicap
Asian Handicap (AH) eliminates the draw outcome entirely by using half-goal lines. Because a match cannot produce exactly 0.5 goals, the handicap-adjusted result always produces a winner with no tie.
Example: Chelsea Asian Handicap -0.5.

There is no draw option. Either Chelsea win on the handicap or they do not.
Quarter-line (split) handicaps
Asian Handicap also offers quarter-lines such as -0.25 or +0.75. These are split handicaps: your stake is divided equally between two adjacent AH lines.
Example: Chelsea -0.25. This is half your stake on AH 0 (draw = stake refund) and half on AH -0.5 (must win).
- Chelsea win: both halves win — full win
- Draw: AH 0 half refunds, AH -0.5 half loses — net half-loss
- Chelsea lose: both halves lose — full loss
Quarter lines give you a partial refund on certain results, which is unique to Asian Handicap.
Whole-number lines and the push
When Asian Handicap uses a whole-number line (e.g. -1), a tie on the handicap is possible (the actual scoreline exactly cancels the handicap). This is called a push — your stake is refunded rather than settled as a win or loss.
Example: Chelsea Asian Handicap -1.
- Chelsea win 2-0: adjusted Chelsea +1 — Chelsea (-1) wins
- Chelsea win 1-0: adjusted 0-0 — push, stake refunded
- Chelsea draw or lose: Chelsea (-1) loses
European Handicap -1 on the same match would have a separate draw-on-handicap selection that someone can back. Asian Handicap -1 just refunds.

What SlipMix currently converts
SlipMix converts European Handicap selections between supported bookmakers. Asian Handicap lines are not currently converted — if your slip contains an Asian Handicap selection and you convert to a target bookmaker, that leg will be skipped.
This is a known limitation. The market translation for Asian Handicap quarter-lines and the split-stake logic require a mapping layer that is not yet built. The skipped leg will be shown clearly in the conversion result.
