Combo Markets Explained: 1X2 & GG, Over/Under & GG, Double Chance Combinations

Combo markets pair two standard football markets into one selection, and both conditions must be true for the selection to win. They are sometimes called "combination markets" and are displayed with an ampersand — for example, "1X2 & GG" or "Away & Over 2.5". The logic is always an "and" relationship: each part of the combination must resolve in your favour or the whole selection loses.

What is a combo market in football betting?

A combo market takes two independent markets — say, the match result and whether both teams score — and merges them into a single bet. Because both conditions must be satisfied simultaneously, combo markets offer higher odds than either standalone market alone. They are distinct from Bet9ja's Chance Mix product, which offers "or" combinations where either condition winning is sufficient. Standard combo markets always require both conditions to be met.

What does "1X2 and GG" mean?

This combo combines the match result (1X2) and the BTTS market (GG/NG). Both must resolve as you selected.

Example — "Home and GG": The home team must win AND both teams must have scored at least one goal.

  • Final score 2-1 (home win, both teams scored): wins
  • Final score 2-0 (home win, away team did not score — NG): loses
  • Final score 1-2 (away win, both teams scored): loses — GG condition met, but result condition failed

"Home and NG" flips the BTTS condition: the home team must win and at least one team must not score (meaning the away team scored zero — a home clean sheet).

What does "1X2 and Over/Under" mean?

This combo combines the match result with the total goals line.

Example — "Away and Over 2.5": The away team must win and the total goals in the match must be 3 or more.

  • Final score 1-2 (away win, 3 goals total): wins
  • Final score 0-1 (away win, 1 goal total — under 2.5): loses
  • Final score 1-3 (away win, 4 goals total): wins
  • Final score 2-1 (home win, 3 goals): loses — Over 2.5 met, but away win condition failed

What does "Over/Under and GG" mean?

This combo combines total goals with the BTTS market. Neither condition involves the match result — the winner is irrelevant.

Example — "GG and Over 2.5": Both teams must score AND the total goals must be 3 or more.

  • Final score 2-1 (3 goals, both teams scored): wins
  • Final score 3-0 (3 goals, but away team did not score — NG): loses
  • Final score 1-1 (2 goals, both teams scored — GG but under 2.5): loses
  • Final score 2-2 (4 goals, both teams scored): wins

"NG and Under 2.5" would require at least one team to not score AND the total goals to be 2 or fewer.

What does "Double Chance and GG" mean?

Double Chance covers two of the three 1X2 outcomes. Combined with GG, both the broadened result condition and the BTTS condition must be met.

Example — "1X and GG": The home team must not lose (home win or draw) AND both teams must score.

  • Final score 1-1 (draw — satisfies 1X, and both scored — GG): wins
  • Final score 2-1 (home win — satisfies 1X, both scored — GG): wins
  • Final score 2-0 (home win — satisfies 1X, but away did not score — NG): loses
  • Final score 0-2 (away win — 1X fails immediately): loses

What does "Double Chance and Over/Under" mean?

This combo pairs a Double Chance selection with the total goals line.

Example — "X2 and Over 2.5": The away team must not lose (away win or draw) AND total goals must be 3 or more.

  • Final score 1-2 (away win — satisfies X2, 3 goals — over 2.5): wins
  • Final score 1-1 (draw — satisfies X2, 2 goals — under 2.5): loses — X2 met, goals condition failed
  • Final score 3-3 (draw — satisfies X2, 6 goals — over 2.5): wins
  • Final score 3-0 (home win — X2 fails): loses

Frequently asked questions

What if one part of the combo wins but the other doesn't? The whole selection loses. Both conditions must be met simultaneously. There is no partial win or refund if only one condition resolves correctly.

Are combo markets the same as accumulators? No. An accumulator combines multiple separate matches — a 5-fold acca requires results across 5 different games. A combo market combines two markets on the same match into one selection. The "and" logic is similar, but the scope is entirely within a single match.

What is the difference between a combo market and Chance Mix? Chance Mix is a Bet9ja product that offers "or" combinations — if either condition wins, the selection wins. Standard combo markets use "and" — both conditions must be met. A "Home or GG" Chance Mix selection wins if the home team wins regardless of BTTS, or if both teams score regardless of the result. A "Home & GG" combo market requires both to be true at the same time.
