Why Did SportyBet Void My Bet? Every Reason Explained

Getting a void notification instead of a win is frustrating. SportyBet's Terms & Conditions set out a list of circumstances in which they can void a bet — before, during, or after an event. This guide walks through each one so you know exactly what to expect.

What does "void" actually mean?

When a bet is voided, it is cancelled and your original stake is returned. A void is not a loss — you get your money back. If a voided selection was part of a multiple, the rest of the multiple settles on the remaining legs at reduced potential winnings.

What are the main reasons SportyBet can void a bet?

1. Obvious price error

If SportyBet determines that a price was clearly wrong — significantly out of line with the true market — they can void the bet whether it wins or loses. This can happen before the event, while it is live, or even after it has finished.

In cases where they choose to re-settle rather than void outright, the bet is settled at the corrected price. However, any winnings generated from a revised price are capped at the equivalent of USD 5,000 per bet. If your original winning would have been higher, the amount above that cap is not paid.

2. Incorrect player or team listed in the fixture

If the team or player named in a market was wrong — for example, the wrong opponent was listed for a match — all bets on that fixture can be voided. SportyBet is not obliged to honour bets placed on a fixture that was incorrectly described.

3. Incorrect market description

If a specific market was described incorrectly, that market can be voided. Depending on the nature of the error, related markets on the same event may also be affected.

4. Bet placed after the outcome was already known

A bet is void if SportyBet can show it was accepted after the result of the event was already determined. This applies to both pre-match and live betting. The same applies if a team gained a clear material advantage — such as scoring a goal or having a player sent off — before your bet was registered.

Why live bets have a placement delay: To protect against this, SportyBet builds a short delay into live bet placement. The delay is there specifically so that bets cannot be placed on an outcome that has just happened but has not yet been reflected on screen. If you are betting in-play, your bet may be accepted with a slight lag — this is intentional.

5. Outcome cannot be validated

If SportyBet is unable to verify the result of an event — for example, because live pictures were lost and an independent result source cannot confirm the outcome — the bet may be voided. This only applies if the outcome has not already been determined at the point the feed was lost.

6. Venue change

If the venue for a match changes from the one advertised when you placed the bet, SportyBet can void all bets associated with the original venue. Your stake is refunded in full.

7. Named player withdrawn before kickoff

In a match where a specific player was named in a two-team fixture and that player is replaced or withdrawn before the game starts, bets that depended on that player participating may be voided.

8. Ambiguous bet instructions

If it is unclear exactly what outcome you were betting on — for example, if your instructions could be interpreted in more than one way — SportyBet may split your stake across the possible outcomes or void the bet entirely.

What about overturned decisions after settlement?

SportyBet settles bets based on the result as determined by the relevant governing body on the day the event concludes. If a governing body later overturns or revises a decision — a disqualification, a replay, a points deduction — that later revision does not change how your bet was settled. The original settlement stands.

How does this work in American sports?

For American sports (NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB, MLS, NASCAR, PGA, and similar), SportyBet settles bets on the official statistics published by the relevant governing body. If the governing body issues an amendment to those statistics after settlement, the original settlement is not revisited.

If a void affects my accumulator, what happens?

A voided selection in an accumulator (multiple) is removed from the bet. The potential winnings recalculate on the remaining legs. If you had a 5-fold accumulator and one selection is voided, it becomes a 4-fold at reduced odds. Only if every remaining leg wins do you collect.

Can a bet be voided after I have already been paid?

Yes. SportyBet can apply a void after initial settlement — including after funds have been credited to your account — and recover the relevant amount from your balance. This is most likely to happen when an obvious pricing error is only detected after the event.

What should I do if I think a void was applied in error?

Raise a dispute through SportyBet's support channels. Their Terms & Conditions state that disputes must be raised within 30 days of settlement. The transaction log held by SportyBet is treated as the authoritative record. If you cannot resolve the issue through support, an independent arbiter can be requested.

If you are transferring your selections to a different bookmaker because a void has left your original slip unusable, SlipMix can convert your booking code across platforms — see Why Your Booking Code Won't Load for related troubleshooting.
